Founded in 1884 as Leicester Fosse, the club joined the Second Division in 1894. They won promotion to the First Division in 1908 after fourteen seasons and changed their name immediately after resumption of football following the First World War. Leicester won promotion in 2013-14, narrowly avoided demotion during the next season and emerged as Premier League champions in 2015-16, defying amazingly long odds. Leicester outfoxed Chelsea in the final of F.A. Cup in 2020-21 and dropped to the Championship at the end of 2002-23, winning promotion at the first attempt by winning the Championship title. The Foxes, however, just the one season at top flight and were relegated as the 2024-25 season ended.
