Originally formed as Newton Heath Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Football Club in 1878, the club joined the Football League in 1892 as Newton Heath. The present name and a new kit were adopted in 1902. Manchester United are a founding member of the Premier League and one of the richest clubs in the world. The club currently holds a record of the highest number of league titles in the English top football league and have twice recorded hat-tricks of league titles. Thirteen championship wins, including two hat-tricks of titles during the Premiership era is a record that will take quite some time to equal. The Red Devils pulled off an upset over their city rivals in the F.A. Cup final, winning the trophy for the thirteenth time and reaching the final for a record twenty-second time while doing so.
